Restylane

Restylane is a collection of anti-aging treatments designed to improve the texture and appearance of aging skin. Restylane is commonly used around the face and neck to erase deep wrinkles and get smoother, healthier-looking skin.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a gel-like substance made up of hyaluronic acid. This synthetic acid is made to mimic the qualities of hyaluronic acid already present in your cells. It helps boost moisture content, and the gel provides an instant filler that smooths out the fine lines. It was designed to be a more versatile, longer-lasting alternative to other hyaluronic acid treatments.

Where Can Restylane Be Used?

While most other products on the market focus on wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, Restylane can be used in several other areas with success. This includes the cheeks, neck and even the backs of your hands. It is one of the few treatment options that is recommended for jowl lines and deep creases around the nose and mouth. The specialty Restylane Silk line was designed for injections in the lips, giving them a fuller appearance that will last.

How Does Restylane Work?

Your doctor will use fine needles to inject small amounts of the Restylane gel in the target areas. In some cases, they will gently massage the area to smooth out the gel beneath the skin. The whole process typically takes less than 30 minutes and you can return to normal activity within a day. Your body will begin absorbing the acid immediately and your skin will fuller right away, although final results will appear in three to four days.

How Long Do Results Last?

Unlike other anti-aging treatments, Restylane was specifically formulated for long-lasting results. For most patients, results last up to one full year. Your doctor may recommend spot treatments around the six-month mark to restore any areas that have started to break down again to prolong your results.

Is Restylane Right For Me?

If you are looking for an anti-aging treatment that does it all, Restylane is a great choice. It has been used successfully around the face as well as in the neck and hands. It is one of the most versatile treatment options around and it tends to last longer than other treatment types. It is useful for removing wrinkles as well as filling the lips and cheeks, where some treatments can only do one or the other.
